Welcome to the latest news
from the office of the Southeast Region.
Please read the
items under Region Information link for all the changes
that will be taken
place at the region tournament.
We have split the
state of Florida and Tennessee.
Florida will have a
North and South Division, Tennessee will have
a East and West
Division. The dividing point will be up to the individual
states.
What this means is,
states will have a state tournament in
each division, with
the winner of each division going to the region
tournament. If you
have only one division that wants to participate
in the region
tournament, both teams will come from that one division.
If your state wants
to have a tournament to determine a single state
champion that will
be up to your individual state, but both
teams will still go
to the region tournament representing their respective
division.
2010 REGION CHANGES:
The
following is the <2010 CHANGES >
passed by the Southeast Region State Presidents which will
go into effect
beginning in 2010. We are trying to increase participation
at the region level. We hope these are some ways the
Southeast
Region
would better serve the state associations involved in our
program.
1.
Region Dues: (PAID BY
YOUR STATE)
a.
$2.00 per team based on your current year numbers
payable to your regional V.P. Fees are to be paid at the
same time you pay your national dues. One check sent to the
national office for your national dues the second check to
your regional V.P. for your region dues. A copy of your
registration forms MUST also be sent with your
regional dues.
2.
Region
Qualifier Tournament Play: (STATE
LEVEL) Controlled by your State.
a. Each
state would have an opportunity to have a region qualifier
in each age group with the winner advancing
to the region tournament.
b.
States that are split will be able to have a
qualifier for each side, the winner from each side
advancing to the regional tournament.
c. States
will still have the opportunity to have a state tournament
and send their state winner to
the
regional tournament.
d. All
tournaments MAY be played in a pool play
format. Minimum of three (3) games in pool
play
round finishing up with an elimination bracket with each
pool winner. Host site to
determine
elimination format based on the number of participant teams.
3.
Region
Tournament Play: (REGION LEVEL)
a. Region tournaments MAY be played in a
pool play format. A three (3) game minimum in the
pool
play round is a must, finishing up with an elimination
bracket with each pool winner. The
host
site will determine elimination format based on the number
of participating teams.
b. A host
site, handling a pool play format, MUST have
at least two (2), possibly three
(3)
fields available for play.
4. Changes to Region Tournament:
a.
A TEAM NAME that wins an AABC World
Series in each individual age level will be given an
automatic berth in the next year’s region tournament based
on previous year’s results at the age level at which it was
won.
NOTE: The 2009 World Series
winner(s) will be the first to participate in the 2010
Southeast Region Tournament new format.
EX: The
TEAM NAME, carrying over from the previous year,
wins a World Series, will get an automatic berth to the next
years Southeast Region tournament at that same age level.
b.
To host a region tournament, a state MUST
have a team participate at ANY age level
region tournament.
5.
AABC logo on caps at the Region Level:
a.
Each host site will be given a supply of AABC pins to sell
to each participating team. The host site is to return
$1.00 per pin to the Region V.P. to be sent to the National
Office. The pins are to be worn on the side of
each coach and players cap. For the teams that have
purchased caps from New Era with the AABC logo on
the side no pins are necessary. This was passed at the
National meeting by the AABC board which appeals to
National tournaments (Regional and World Series) .
6.
